Wife's new bike.
04/23/12 at 22:01:50

This is the 2000 with about 16,000 miles I picked up for my wife.

It had been setting for about 2 yrs.
I rebuilt the carburetor, charged the battery, changed the oil, replaced the front tire, front brake pads and various bolts/nuts/washers. It fired right up and sounded good. It has a Jardine pipe that I am modifying the baffle to quiet it down a little. Will be opening the case to check the cam chain tensioner after I get it inspected.

Best part I'll have less then $1000.00 in it when all is said and done.

The wife is happy and I'm not out a lot of Dollars.

Did you get any maintenance records? That thing is deep into the "Its cam chain time" mileage,if its done, great,, if its not, it seriously needs looked at,

That can be an engine destroyer, if youre thinking it should be looked at, it otta get looked at in a right now kinda way,,
Id sure have a chat with the previous owner & ask if that got done, & when,

Love the yellow. Nice ride!

All under 1000$? I can't get over how cheap some things are south of the 49th parallel.

Congratulations  on your Savage

I've got 42,000 miles and working on the third camchain ,  The Versey adjuster  will pay for itself .

If your not over 6 feet tall , then you may  spend more time on the Savage than your wife will , "Its a FUN bike"!!!

What's your other machine ?

If she doesnt have the arms of an orangutan, those bars may be too far forward for her,
If it fits her well,, please dont show her this post.
