...and heck fire... they've got us at 46mpg...

My mileage (62mpg average) would put us at about #52 in the list... (30 places ahead of the nearest 500+ engine.)...

Arizona?

Sure, warm n' toasty + no humidity and close to sea level oxygen levels,
sure, hella efficient combustion!

I remember comparing my MPG between SoCal (dryish sea level)
and more humid places with heights of 5000-7000 feet and the
difference was dramatic, even had to rejet the savage once! (too rich)

don't know, oldish list from france or something,

I think the newer S40's are even more efficient.

Are the new 2012 models fuel injected?

Get rid of all those little 125cc scoots and we get close to the top.

I really need to rebuild my carb, rejet, and replace my muffler. I should be getting better than barely 42mpg. Although most of my riding is in the city of Tampa, and I'm hard on the throttle. Even on my highway trips across the state I top out at maybe 45mpg.

Yea Versey

I got 63 mpg on the first tank full after rebuilding (Kinda - taking it easy).

I only left .002" between the cylinder and piston and was just waiting for it to "gall-up".   but it didn't !  Smiley

I have two bikes, which rate at 5.04 (Savage) and 5.38 (BMW) liters/100 Km.

To convert into mpg(US) do 100/[rated figure] and multiply that by 2.4; example:
Savage rated at 5.04 liters/100 Km. 100/5.04 = 19.84 Km/liter x 2.4 = 47.6 mpg.

Truth of the matter is, my real mileage is more like :
- Savage,    17.5 Km/liter => 42 mpg in city driving;
- BMW 1200 16   Km/liter => 38 mpg in city driving.

Mind you, city driving in Rome is not like city driving in the US:

City driving in Rome

Angry

City driving in the US : Atlanta (man, I wish I had that much space for splitting lanes!) and Denver (you call THAT "crowded"?)  Roll Eyes

So, 42mpg in my kind of traffic and the Savage is really really a gas-sipper !!!  Wink

I lived some years ago in a mega city of 22 million inhabitants,
and I took my savage with me, hehe.

and I LOVED IT!   the savage is as thin as any city 125cc
but with that much torque it could outrun/pass ANY vehicle,
at the green light for example, even outran a cop car once.

Also since its so light and low it hops on and off the sidewalk
effortlessly as well as jumps lane dividers and islands.

I could cross the city tip to tip in 45minutes flat, in a car this
would take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours depending on traffic.

Man those where god times.   Cool
