Oil leak @ fill port. Missing part or not tight (Read 79 times)

There is a small seep around port. Is there supposed to be some ring/gasket on the fill cap or is it a common problem that the fill cap needs to be REALLY fastened tightly?

There was an O-ring on the cap but the side against the engine case was flat in a "not going back to round" sort of way. I ordered a new o-ring and the seepage problem seems to be gone.

Theres no reason why that Oring should need replaced, when its flat, its mated to its surface. It always stops in the same place unless it get knocked out or spun somehow. YOu can flip one in an application like that.
