Oil leak @ fill port. Missing part or not tight
03/20/12 at 16:51:17
I changed the oil and tightened the cap on the oil fill port. There is a small seep around port. Is there supposed to be some ring/gasket on the fill cap or is it a common problem that the fill cap needs to be REALLY fastened tightly?

Thanks. There was an O-ring on the cap but the side against the engine case was flat in a "not going back to round" sort of way. I ordered a new o-ring and the seepage problem seems to be gone.

It may have been closed down on a tiny piece of poo,,not sealing off. Theres no reason why that Oring should need replaced, when its flat, its mated to its surface. It always stops in the same place unless it get knocked out or spun somehow.
YOu can flip one in an application like that.

I had a little problem with that as well. I yanked the ring off the plug and flipped and put it back on. Seals like a new one.
