NOt if youre on a good smooth spot, & absolutely No uphill to it,.I know its not perfect, but its a shot at getting close. its okay if its just ever so slightly downhill..just to keep it from bucking, which it will do under a load, wind, rolling resistance, any uphill at all.,itll buck,, I could find a place to try it around here, heck, rolling onto a slight downhill, whats it gonna raise the rpm? Dont try to take off doin it, slow down into it,. I could figure out if I was idling at 500 or 1500,, if ya want a tach, get a tach, but I could get close enough this way to not kill my engine, maybe Im alone in that ability,but I did it,

Not very hard to do. You said you wanted to mount it permanently. Well, you can do both. I mounded mine with velcro at the pivot point. Its permanently removable so I can swap it out with my other bike as needed.
