Yup.  That's a modified version similar to how I did mine initially too.  When I switched to the Raptor, I removed the nipple from the carb and used some aluminum epoxy similar to JB Weld to seal it and then sanded it down a bit.  If you'd like to give me your email in a PM, I'll put together all the documentation I have on it and shoot it to you.  There is some on the manufacturer's site at http://www.amalcarb.co.uk/. They have good parts prices but shipping from the UK can get pricey.  Some other resources are:

The carb shown here is a Mikuni VM round slide but the Amal round slide is done the same way.  Not shown is the insertion of the needle down inside the center hole inside the slide after the tip of the cable is put through the offset hole in the bottom of the slide.  Then a small flat plate is set on top of them to lock them in before the slide spring is allowed to go down into the slide

Thanks Lancer, In this first PIC i do not have that Black Plastic doodad on the top of the carb... is that a show stopper? From Hitchcocks Motorcycles its a rubber top cable stop...

I seemed to have run into a small issue where the rubber port that attaches to the motor does not seem to line up with the screw holes on the engine exactly... now if i use the OEM rubber mount on the motor it appears that I have a Rubber Stub adapter i can insert into the OEM and attach the carb... is that an option or should i be ok with the amal rubber mount to the motor... may have been like 1/32" off between the screw hole and the hole in the rubber mount... dunno if that would cause any issue by forcing the screw in the hole compressing the rubber mount any...

Well that question seems to be mute... I cannot put my thinnest shims between the rubber mount and the motor where it attaches so it seems to be ok for now... Just need to drill out a hole on the throttle cable plate to attach to my throttle housing on the handle bar... just slightly off as well... sheesh something sooo simple causing such bumps in the road... at least im learning or so i hope i learn someting or something like that... Cheesy

That is a rubber cap for keeping any dust/moisture from going down into the carb.  The one in the photo of the VM carb will work on the Amal.  They are cheap and available.
Due to the location of the carb , behind the engine and under the seat, danger of contamination is minimal.  You can get flex/stretch self adhering electrical tape at a hardware store and wrap it a time or 2 and that will totally seal it better than the rubber top you see.  Quick and easy to do.

Yep looks to be like 3 places to adjust ... 1 by the switch assy 1 by the carb and 1 ontop of the carb... just not sure what does what yet...
