So im assuming i have a 2900 series? R2934-300 relates to that from OldBritBikes...

Still wondering if thats just to allow more air in right before combustion?

Thank you Vers... Kicker on that second pdf is that it looks exactly like what i have.... EXCEPT on the left side of the carb pictured i have a brass nipple sticking out with a clear plastic tube and no stinking clue what its for... Undecided maybe just to let more air in the mix after mix?? Undecided im going to try to get a pic... maybe that will help....

looks like an added vacuum port, or even an oil injection, or boost bottle port for a 2 stroke. if your running the oem petcock you could plug the vac line in there.

It is a vacuum port
Looks like one I did back when I sold them
You can seal it with high temp silicone

Ok getting ready to install the carb.... Only took a couple hours to get the positive cable off the battery! Stupid nut was messed up baad.... Anywho... Looking to understand how the throttle cable is secured to the top of the amal carb as best i can tell it just sits in there as threading that nut tight does not do anything to hold the cable in place.... Any one know if im on the right track?

It's the tension of the spring inside the carb (the big coil spring under the top cap and down inside the slide) pushing down on the slide that keeps the cable inside that top screw in the cap.   That screw in the cap is for cable adjustment.  It does not adjust it very much but that's what it is for.  It is not designed to latch on to the cable sheath.
Remember, this is simple old tech stuff.

The carb shown here is a Mikuni VM round slide but the Amal round slide is done the same way.  Not shown is the insertion of the needle down inside the center hole inside the slide after the tip of the cable is put through the offset hole in the bottom of the slide.  Then a small flat plate is set on top of them to lock them in before the slide spring is allowed to go down into the slide
