Looking to understand how the throttle cable is secured to the top of the amal carb as best i can tell it just sits in there as threading that nut tight does not do anything to hold the cable in place.... Any one know if im on the right track?
It's the tension of the spring inside the carb (the big coil spring under the top cap and down inside the slide) pushing down on the slide that keeps the cable inside that top screw in the cap. That screw in the cap is for cable adjustment. It does not adjust it very much but that's what it is for. It is not designed to latch on to the cable sheath.
Remember, this is simple old tech stuff.
