took my bike out today. very nice roads dry and ice free. my road was scary about 3/4mile of ice snow slush mud. but i made it to dry road then fun. every time i shut my bike off it had a little backfire. my brother said to much back pressure. and to drill a 1/4,5/16 hole in baffle. any opinion? not that it doesn't have some backpressure... won't fix it, it'll make it worse.
adjust the idle mixture screw a little richer.

You can drill it but it will still go bang. More suggestions will be along.

You said, "a little backfire". If you can stand it, wait awhile and read/study the tech section. Get to know your little Savage before you chop her up.
