I tried spraying some wd-40 into the carb and the bike started but died same as usual and then I looked on some other forums and saw that starting with the gas cap off might work but it also did nothing.. so far the bike is only starting occasionally (at random really) and only runs for 5-10 seconds then just dies again.

We cant tell if it is prime or not, the writing has worn away and I can't find an identical image of our petcock, the one posted earlier isnt exactly the same, but it only starts with it in the same position (point to the rear I believe) so I assumed it was prime.

Id pull the plug & squirt some oil in, hit the starter & spin it, For GODS sake, hands off the gas.
Clean the plug, get it ready to start, if its a Raptor, just turn it on, if its stock, put the long end of the lever to the back of the bike, set the choke, hands off the gas, & spin it over. If it will run on wd40, keep it chugging with it, pull the air filter out, & keep puffing shots in, keep it running, maybe the carb will finally catch up., Im startin to think youve got some crap in that carb,,

Is any kind of oil alright?  Just regular engine oil?  And before I put it on the wrong "plug" you're refering to spark plug right lol?
