Electrical problems.. Ignition?
03/07/12 at 16:47:15

We got everything on the bike fixed hopefully and first time trying to start it... nothing happened >.<

No lights, no engine noises, literally NOTHING happens.  Battery was tested and is fully charged.. I was wondering if the ignition could be the issue and if so is their a way to work around the ignition (hot wire) to test if maybe it's something else.. or what the best step from here would be.

We checked them an none were blown but we replaced them anyways and its fixed Smiley

Unfortunately... The bike just cranks endlessly.  We cant get it to turn over..any ideas?
The bike sat for several years, we drained ALL the fluid, painted the tank and fenders, rebuilt the carb, powder coated the rims..various other things.. the bike only has 5k miles on it.

However, the rebuild kit came with a piece that ORIGINALLY had a very tiny wire mesh cap on the tip (like a filter) and i believe it was on the tip of the jet.. but the rebuild kit had no filter/mesh piece.. we called the shop and they said it would be perfectly fine without the tiny filter.. but they were a bit.. uneducated with motorcycles..

We took the little screw out of the bottom of the carb and fuel started coming out.. so fuel is in the carb I would assume.

We found on the gas tank a tiny nozzel that isnt connect to anything, right below the "on" switch on the left bottom side of the tank.. is a hose of some sort supposed to connect there??  we had 0 left over hoses so I assumed not >.<

boy... are you from california?

sounds like a cali epa crap... I mean carbon canister.

that tank tap is a vent and you need to run a line back the tube you found.

the pickup for that canister is a smaller line on the backside of the carb on the same side as the vac line.

Nope, oklahoma lol..

So the Carb should only have ONE air hose connected to nothing?  While the other hose connects to that tap on the tank?  Would that alone stop the bike from starting?

You got a suzuki shop manual? Good info, cheap & easy. Or maybe you can post a pic?

Start this thing on prime , point the lever on the petcock to the rear,
Is the gas old? & Charge that battery up, I dont care if its turning over just fine, you wouldnt believe the hassles that has caused.,

The stock carb has two lines that look like fuel lines attached to an unmodified stock petcock.  One is actually the fuel line and the other is a vacuum line to actuate the petcock.

See the nipple to the left of the petcock lever?
just to the left of the that is the vac line, not connected to anything.

Wow.  I can't believe I missed that.  I got it reconnected (sort of) but can't get the tank back on the bike properly so the hose isn't entirely long enough.  Is there a special trick to getting the tank back on the bike?  But even with that hose sort of connected we still couldn't get it to start.. I think after we get that hose fully connected and the tank on the bike properly it will just go into the shop for the last little bit it takes to get it running again.. we're totally lost at this point lol...

looking at your pic's... looks like the front "C" aren't nested on the rubbers.  Back the tank off an inch or two, push down on the front, make it level, push forward, then push the back end of the tank to the left and down.  The back should slip to the right and down on the mount, have the rubbers ready or you'll have to lift it again.

if you can't get it hooked up, pull the petcock lever back into prime.
you need to do that anyway to fill up the carb.
