Belt-tension gauge bracket position
02/14/12 at 13:42:44

In a major "Doh!" move, while fairing down the swingarm for painting I ground off the little bracket on the underside of the left arm which holds the belt tension gauge gizmo. I now have to make and weld on a new one.
Please give me a dimension off of some part on the swing arm so I can position the new bracket correctly. Also its height off the arm.
Thanks from an idiot.

You really don't need the bracket, or the tension gauge, or anything but your hands.
Twist the belt in the middle at the bottom.  If you can twist it about 90 degrees, the tension is OK.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

You're an intelligent idiot   Grin
Just deposit that little gage in the same place as the bracket.

The tried and true method is to grab the lower belt in the middle and give it a twist.  If you can twist it 90°, it is the correct tension.

Cool

BUt, so you always do it the same way, put it in gear & roll back to pull all the slack into the lower part.
