I wouldn't call that a bobber, why is the back wheel offset instead of centered?

To insure the chain is straight.

Man, he already has half inch space, if that's not enough add a few mm spacers front and back. That's what I did for 160/80 tire... That makes everything proper.

It is cute, and yes, the tank is fab-u-lous!  But my question is... are the pics deceiving, or is the frame really only an inch or so from the ground??  We got alot of railroad crossings, etc. that I could see getting that thing hung on!  Out in the flat country, maybe, but where I live... looks like an easy accident!

Hey Kevin,

As everyone who's done a chain conversion knows...  You have to space-out the front sprocket about 10-15 mm on the stock Savage to get the chain aligned.  I believe that Micah has simply "mocked up" the build and had not installed the spacers yet, but everything will align right down the center with the proper spacers.

I think this bike is very well done.  I also think someone put a great deal of effort into this build.

Instead of bashing this cat for what some may deem unsafe, accept this brother, and his stead.  Such negativity is not only harshing my mellow, it drives us apart as a community.

I personally like all different bikes.  All shapes and sizes.  MG's, Triumphs, KTM's, and yes, thumpers.  All have a different personality, much like the brother that rides it.

Now....on to better things.
The tank is sweet.  Very nice job on the fork lowering...it looks like a lot of fun.  I'd ride it for sure.....

The wheel can also be re-laced to give it the needed offset.

On this particular bike, if you shift the hub and countershaft sprockets to the left, then the part of the brake face plate that keeps it from spinning won't reach the lug on the frame.

Since we're on the subject of spacers and chains here, has anyone found a spacer to use without machine cutting a 40mm hole out of a 13 tooth sprocket (from the tech section "chain conversion")... just wondering before I go out on a mission Cheesy

I used two stainless steel M24 washers, 44mm OD, 3.7mm to 4.3mm thick, one on each side of the sprocket -- but two on one side might work better in some cases.

I got them from McMaster-Carr.

As my first post on this forum, I am pleased to announce I am the proud and very excited new owner of this bike. Yes i put the front brakes on it lol and turn signals are next to make it legal for me to ride on base (military). This is an outstanding bike and it rides wonderfully. He did an awesome job on the build. Pictures just dont do it justice.
