gear shifter rod snapped in half
12/12/11 at 11:02:15

my gear shifter rod snapped in half on my way to work this morning.

found out most what i need to know here:

http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1283987338/1

but having trouble finding the part. anyone know exactly what it's called. is is just the "gear shifter rod"? searching for "gear shifter rod 2000 ls650" keeps bringing me to places selling the whole gear shifter.

also, how much damage can I do just riding it around in 3rd gear for a few days till I get the part? seems easy enough to replace once I find it.

thanks!

We Ryca guys have them sitting around. They get swapped out for a different one that comes with the kit. Want mine? I'll send it to you for the price of postage. PM me. Uh, but let me check to see whether I tossed it.

If anyone else has one there looking to get rid of for the price of postage I'd surely appreciate it. Mine took a crap as well.

It's not stompin' that does it, they get a little kink in the shaft and the repetitive stress gets it to snap.

With a good motorcycle oil your trans will shift easy and you want have to stomp on it for it to shift.

can always grab a bit of steel rod from the hardware store then just cut it to fit and thread the ends.

Keep in mind that one end is a right hand thread and the other end is a left hand thread  Shocked
