getting tired of the site.

I am curious, are any of the rest of you getting tired of this site turning from a Suzuki Savage site to a "YOU MUST BE THIS TALL TO SIT AT THIS TABLE" site?

I am getting really tired of checking the 10 most recent posts, and finding 8-10 of this from this thread.  I come here to read about the bike that I love, to find out what others have done to their bikes, and to catch up on the latest maintenance issues.  Because of the current trend, I find myself coming here less and less, and that makes me sad.

I find the cafe pretty refreshing, I mostly read the tech section and help if I can in the rubber side down section, but I'm not that technical yet and my bike is down at the moment... once I get to modding I'm sure rubber side down will be full of my nonesense  Cheesy

But yes I can see it from your point of view...

Tired of the site? or the thread....It's only one thread among many, read something else. The fact that the thread is so active must suggest to you that it is popular and many of us enjoy it.

The looong winter is setting in here in the north and we don't want to continually read about carburetors and discuss the merits of this oil or that oil all winter when our bikes are in cold weather storage.

I see that you live in AZ where it is hot all year and never rains so you can ride all year. Good for you, but for many of us the riding season is over and we enjoy chatting and debating with our friends on the Tall Table thread.

There's only so much you can say or do with a Suzuki Savage and its all been said here 100 times or more, Without the cafe section this forum will die. I own a Ninja 250 and I quit going on the forum a long time ago. I've seen it all. Its boring. The tall table comes and goes. Somebody will get something started and its on for 2 or 3 days then it dies down for seversl days. I think its fun sometimes to argue religion and politics. I cant do it at home or I would lose half my friends and family. Not all my friends or family are as open minded as I am so I just have to leave it alone. Its nice to have a place to voice my opinion and there's no consequences. I think thats what Jerry wanted when he started the Tall Table.

working on bikes is hard and takes time and is amazing rewarding and this site is a great great resource for that.

politics is cheap and easy and anyone can complain about it. I feel much safer complaining about politics than I do complaining about someone's hard work put into their bike just because I don't fancy it.

less people have specialized knowledge about how to work on motorcycles but anyone can spout off about politics.

over on Triumphrat.net they don't allow political talk or whatever, and I don't really participate in that forum, so no one knows me there, I have no way to connect with anyone there.

don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

eventually I'll get around to doing something with my bike and I'll share it here, but between then and now, I like you all and want to connect with people here, but I don't know enough to say much about motorcycles here

maybe an opinion thread about comparing bikes maybe something like Savage VS the World!!!

sorry Gerald, I'll shut up now

Don't browse by "the 10 most recent posts".  Just go through the forums looking for posts that are lit up as new stuff there.  Yesterday was the first time I ever even read that thread you mentioned in months of coming here.  I don't plan on getting into it ever again but that doesn't detract from the rest of the site.

The web is full of Epeen stroking know it alls that love to argue it out on both sides because you can't win or lose it keeps feeding egos.

Maybe you're not tall enough to sit at the table?

I'm sitting on 3 phone books and a booster chair...

I've always just skipped the tall table.  It was never why I visited the site.  All the other topics I at least skim through even if I almost never post to any.

I agree, and after the first day or two I quit watching the "wheat belly" thread as well. But I enjoy the rest of the site.  Smiley
