kickstand issue
11/05/11 at 18:57:16

hey everyone,

noticed my kickstand was taking a little extra oomph to put back up before riding yesterday, and realized today that bike is leanin a lil too far for comfort.

upon closer inspection: it looks like my kickstand isn't holding right. when I put all the bikes weight on it, is goes an extra inch of so past the normal stopping point, and the bike leans too far.

I noticed the peg in the middle of the hinge seems to be about a half an inch out.

Can I just hammer it back in?

thanks!

Nope...  but if you pull the chrome cap off the end, you can screw it back in with an allen wrench... Wink...

PS,... there should be a nut on the back of that screw, too...

When you get a replacement nut, use some red thread lock so you don't lose it again.

unhook the springs makes it real easy to screw it back in...

just an update for anyone in the future with the same problem:

had a hell of a time getting the chrome cap off so:

had a friend sit on the bike for balance, and kicked the stand up. from the other side of the bike, stuck my head under there and lined up the screw and threads, then just screwed it back in with a wrench and some elbow grease. tightened the wrench right over the chrome cap.

now just need to get me a nut from the hardware store for the under side with the screw sticking through.
