Any problem with mixing Rotella blue 5-40 with Amsoil 20-50?

Theyre both slick & neither one will make the other stop being slick.

supposedly, all petroleum products are mixable.
but you're better off sticking to 1 product.

I agree.  Up until a few years ago, I was convinced that all oils marketed for a given purpose were mixable.  I even thought the nanny state required it.

A few years ago a buddy put some auto oil into his dirt bike just to top it off.   It turned the oil milky.  Of course, this is just anecdotal info.  We still don't know what went on there,.. way too many variables.

So, now, I still think there is not much risk to mixing brands of oils, BUT!!!,.. I prefer to use the same brand and weight of oil.

I never played w/ synthetic much, but I been a Dino.....not mixer as much as a "brand changer" all my life, still am. Whatever name brand is on sale......or cheapest is what the vehicles get. Seems that Dello LE has won out the last couple years,...Havoline before that, w/ Rotella inbetween a time or two. I've run SuperTech when all others were overpriced. And thru it all, in 55 yrs, I never could "wear out" an engine.
The motorcycle started w/ Havoline Syn, but w/ the wet clutch stories here, it perdy much stays w/ Rotella now.

When it come to adding a quart tween changes......if that ever happens, it never did matter what name was on a can/bottle.
Back in my young days.....60s, motors even got some tranny fluid now and then Shocked

Seems like dumping solvents like Berryman's, Rislone, MMO, Seafoam, Gunk, etc., is a type of oil mixing as well.  You have no idea what you are doing to the properties of the oil.  The weight will change.  The additives will be destroyed or at least change or combine.

While in a desperate situation I'd use whatever was reasonably close to the correct motor oil, I much prefer to not mix different brands or types or weights of oil,... and I REALLY would avoid putting a solvent in there.

I mix here and there. Kinda hate myself for doing it - but I still do it. No oil related problems ever.

Mixing oil doesn't hurt,If you use 1/2 $12 oil and 1/2 $2 oil you will have in there $6 oil.But the $12 oil will overpower the cheap oil some what.

In my old cars, I'll dump in whatever is available when I need some. Or whatever is cheapest. Never blew an engine in 34 years of driving.
On the bike, I stick to 1 weight oil. 10/w/40, like the manual says. I suppose, in a pinch, I would put in whatever, just to get home if needed, but I'd change that out when home.

You'd think $12 dollar oil and $2 dollar oil, would make $6 dollar oil,... but,... it makes $14 dollar oil,.. because you're using it as an additive...
Huh...
