After I re-jetted, I have never had a problem starting... $0.02

Well,, I never heard of anything so strange in my life.,. coff, coff A battery just a bit lower than Wonderful will do that.. seems like it otta fire on off,, but the starter is eating up enough power that the sparker just cant spark brite enuff to lite it off..

You need 3 things to start, fuel, air and fire.

take the sparky out and check for fire.
take the air filter out check clean and dry.
check the carb bowl for gas, take the drain plug out and catch it in a pan.
or if it has a drain nipple then put on a clear fuel line and check how high the fuel level is. should come up to the bowl gasket with the petcock in prime.

Make sure you check your voltage every so often. Rectifier is going out on my bike & I had almost the same thing wrong as what you described.
