Spark Plug Thread?
09/13/11 at 20:03:01

This seems like a dumb question, but I've looked around a lot for the answer and haven't been able to find it.

I'm planning to do a compression test on the bike, and I need to buy the proper sized adapter for my compression meter.  Is the thread on the spark plugs a 12mm or a 10mm.  I don't have a spare plug to check it myself, but I'm sure someone out there has done compression tests on the Savage before.  Mine is a 1987 (that prob shouldn't matter)

From the NGK web site...

DPR8EA9
D=12mm
P=projected insulator
R=resistor
8=heat number
E=19mm thread reach
A=special design
9=.036" spark gap

Rock on!  Thanks a ton!  I figure a compression test will be easy to do when I'm tearing her down this weekend.
