Good to hear, I always liked the look of the long-fendered Indian bikes. We'll see what comes of the Polaris influence in the 2013 bikes according to the article.

Cool

Looks like a Harley with fender skirts!

I want to see Indian become what they used to be...the most advanced motorcycle company in the world.
People owned Indians because they were the best not because they looked like 1940 warmed over.
And bring the plant back to Springfield, MA!

I wonder if they will develop their own motor, rather than using what is basically an HD design.

Too biiiig. We need an Indian thumper that's just a tad bigger and longer than the Savage. let's call it an Indian 800cc Thumper = weight = 375lbs.

Since my early teens I've watched someone try to save and revive the Indian name. I'm 57. Will Polaris do it? I doubt it. Looks like the show must go on.

I'm for that! A light weight thumper of about 800cc with fuel injection and hydraulic lifters...and a tank big enough to cross town.

Same old clone engine that has been used 2 times and failed....they need a NEW engine! I thought polaris was smarter than this....

Old Indians are my favorite bike i have lots of indian stuff and some real indian tools, my father had a 38 4 cylinder. Untill they come up with an Indian engine i dont really care it this time is number 3.

I guess in all fairness being how Harley copied the first V twin from Indian its fair play. Indian built the first vtwin in 1906 HD was 1909, it did not run well so they pulled it, 1911 another one was sold to the public.

Always amazes me how the HD types never mention or care about facts kinda like that new political party today!!!

there's probably still a lot of parts and stuff left over from the other owners of Indian, so Polaris is just using up that and following up on that marketing scheme for awhile until they hopefully develop and design something with more mass appeal. I'd love to see them come out with an Indian Scout model as a standard or sport bike even. I think they can keep the chief the classic old school look for those that want that kinda thing, but agree that they need to update the image of Indian.  but it's been 50+ years since Indian meant anything else than old school restoration beauty, a capturing of nostalgia.  They should really just follow Triumphs example.

I agree 100%.

In fact, what Indian needs is the "100 per cent solution".

What is 100% ? It is "purity, completeness, entirety".

It is 100 x 100 = square single 785 cc.

It is the easiest engine to design and build, yet, with two possible head designs and a separate gearbox, you can have up to 4 credible versions from one engine project.

2 valve, 4 speed Main Street cruiser. (see LS650 / S40)

2 valve, 5 speed tourer. (see Royal Enfield Bullet)

2 valve, 6 speed long-range GranTurismo (see a fully faired BMW or Moto Guzzi)

I know the pic is a V-twin, just try to picture a fully faired single...

4 valve, 6 speed cafe racer to whip the lightweight competition clean off the streets. (see Gilera Saturno or Royal Enfield Bulelt Clubman)

2 valve, 6 speed scrambler

The pics below are Italian spinoff from the Royal Enfields, called the "McDeebs".

I want one !!!  Cool

Great looking machines, mpescatori!  Thanks for the post.   Cool  I welcome the Indian (as well as Victory) to the market place, but I prefer the little thumpers myself.

Yes nice post, thanks for all the great pics. Awesome stuff!

( I wish one of these American companies would get the hint though - maybe we can clue them in somehow lol )
