LS 400 engine upgrade
08/23/11 at 06:08:09
Hi All
This is my first post so take it easy on me! I have a 1987 Suzuki Savage LS400 and wanted to know if I can replace the engine with a 650cc one easily?
Thanks

Not familiar w/ the 400 but I would imagine you'd have to replace all the electrics also...

I don't think they sell the 400 where the 650 lives and vice versa.
So, not many are going to be able to give acurate advice.
Now, simply put, since the stroke is different, I suppose the height of the engine is different by the same amount.

I wonder if there is a difference in the camshafts of both engines.

My guess is - relatively easy swap. But don't buy a 650 engine based on that. Never seen a 400 either.

Becha all it is is a different jug and carb. If you could find the bore and stroke specs you'd know for sure.

I've done a search and it seams I was wrong, the 400 is 88 bore and 65 stroke.
