Shock replacement?
08/22/11 at 14:22:38

This is for those that have switched to intruder or sportster shocks on their s40.
6 ft rider 200 lbs, occasinal 2 up with about a 140lb rider.
The 800 intruder or 883 sportster shocks going to be a better fit/ride?

No cant afford progressives unless you got set cheap...lol
Dont really want to put stock shocks back on.
So im looking at intruder and sportster shocks.
Buddy has some 11 1/2 inch eye to eye off a yamaha 750(cant remember the model) he thinks might work. But im afraid they might be to heavy even through their adjustable.

Thoughts, comments, experiances?

I got a set of progressives but they're the softer spring rate. You may liek them solo on the top setting but 2 up isnt a great option. They're rather bouncy. SWitched to intruder shocks...im very pleased but i got a steal on them price wise.

Go Sportster,... Intruders are soft....  You'll need to change bushings to fit...

I love my Intruders,... but 150 in full gear... and I have them set on 5...Huh...

if you go sportster, go HD.  Stock stortster will be too light.
The progressive spring you want is a something...1313...something.

I'm about 175 and 6'. Ride mostly solo. Am I on the border between Sportster and Intruder?

What years of intruder or sportsters work?

Do you have to order out for new bushings?

Yes you can ride standard sportster shocks 412-1005?
at 240, I had them on the 5th knotch.
yes you will need bushings, HD are 1/2" and ours are a little smaller.
a tube with 1/32" and an OD of 1/2" will work.

Any thoughts on these? Not a bad price for new. 11.75". Have no idea as to the quality of the product of course.

So HD Sportster shocks would probably be my best bet then?
Dont want em beating me to death when im rideing solo though as thats the way i mostly ride.
Any yamaha shocks fit that you know of?
The ones my buddy has are supposed to be pretty good.
