A belt sander.  

If you have a large piece of glass, use typical glass cutting techniques to get it to a rough shape,... scoring and bending it to break on the scored line.  Then the belt sander with a lot of patience to gradually create the shape desired.

Id stop by a glass shop & ask if they can help me out,, look for one with  bike parked outside.,.

Ahhh, then we can move on towards a bevel head Duc  style glass window on a modified Savage that would eliminaate the cam belt issue with gears et al. Grin Grin

Didn't there used to be a photo of such a mod..european I think (NOT to hyjack the thread or anything..a thousand apologies). Embarrassed
