Need a guess about non crank.

Twice I jumped in the saddle and pushed the start button with no result. As we probably all forget to turn the switch from time to time I let go of the clutch and reached for the key and automatically kicked at the kickstand. Cranked right up Second time it happended I realized it must be the clutch/neutral switch/kickstand lockout? The key was on both times and I "fixed" it by jarring everthing at once. Never use the kill switch and didn't touch it. It's gonna' fail some day. What part is most likely to fail. Please, please, please don't say neutral switch behind right cover. I'd love to replace the clutch switch. I think that is possible from my recliner.   Grin  Just thought, battery lead could be loose. That's my second choice.

If I were to guess which would fail first I would say the clutch switch because it's getting worked out pretty heavily just from riding.each time you shift you click it on and off, just imagine how many times it's used over the lifetime of the bike compared to the others.of course this is just a guess, based on what gets worked the most.when it acts up try just pulling the clutch lever a bunch of times and try again.

I agree with Mark.  But I have had a squirrelly wire problem at the connection under the tank, which affects mostly just my neutral light but also sometimes I have to jiggle the whole bike to get it to fire up.

Boofer,

Any way you can jump that switch with a piece of wire?

God bless,

stock petcock IS a safety switch. Hit 65mph and the bike dies by accident? No way...its intentional. They know you're speeding  Grin

Not only is the oil the  wrong brand, it's the wrong weight (15w40). And I just filled up twice this week with non-ethanol gas. Raptor petcock, Harley Night Train muffler (Not Dyna). Got caught with less than 25 lbs air in both tires last week. I do check the Wrong Brand/Wrong Weight oil regularly.  Grin

The vac PC has already been covered, so it leaves 1 of 2 things,....either the carb bowl is all gummed up from using that god awful gasahol, or you got hold of some really old stale gas,......like over 30 days old.  Roll Eyes
