Clunky shifting

As a newb would say, I did a search and couldn't find any answers....  Wink

I changed my oil last night, rode to and from work today with no problem.  Decided to give her a bath when I got home, for once this year, took her for a little dry-off ride and the shifting seemed a little "clunky".  I didn't notice it today, but it was a hot day.  This evening cooled down a bit.  Not sure if that has any bearing, or maybe I just didn't notice it today.  But anyway, could this be the result of the fresh oil?  Did I not put enough back in?

2006 - 7,900 miles.

Yes check your oil level, you might have trouble with being a piglet and not an ostridge but give it a go.

And then it could be you knocked off the vac line and it's idling high.

I think yer' prolly just nuts,...
Happens to me, all the time... Huh...

... or, maybe the oil drained off the clutch plates during the oil change, and temporarily got clunky 'till they got re-coated...
Can even happen if the bike just sits a few days...
Wink...

I noticed a change in the shifting when I went from dino to Rotella T-6. It took a few miles for the synthetic to work its majik, it shifts like a dream now. Rotella in my Vulcan as well, same smoothness... Cool

OMG I have a confession.   Embarrassed  I had never changed the oil since owning the bike.  I am just about to put my 5,000th mile on it.  I bought it from a dealer and they had serviced it, but I didn't ask what oil they used.  So we went with good ol' Suzuki oil.

I did add a couple ounces to it last night (burned my hand on the header in the process) so I can barely see it in the bottom of the window now, like before.  So I'll give it a few more rides.  Hopefully it will smooth out, or like Bot said, I'm just nuts.  I did check the vac line and its fine.  Thanks guys.

Now that could be the frightening part !!
If thats on the vertical, a clunkity tranny,.....incl a clunkity crankshaft could be normal !
If OTOH you are one of those SS weirdos, it is almost enuff oil Grin
