K&N Air Filters and sealing them... (Read 87 times)

Built2Last Serious Thumper Offline Tempt Fate Posts: 1447 FTF Gender:	K&N Air Filters and sealing them... 08/13/11 at 13:19:21 Just got my K&N Air Filter and K&N Sealing Grease... is there anyway to tell if you have it sealed correctly? I slathered the lip of it, installed it, fired it up and drove it to the store and back. Nothing unusual happened. The instructions don't really explain much about sealing it.

Reply #1 - 08/14/11 at 10:13:17 Don't need much grease at all- just a very light coat. If you use too much it can get sucked into the carb where it may (or may not) cause trouble.

Reply #5 - 08/14/11 at 13:11:36 Naw, actually they are hoping for a reserve of oil to wick out of the grease into their cotton filter fabric to keep the oil/dirt attraction action going a little longer .... Is the grease red by any chance? If so you need to Ask Bill About It.
