The 90 would be a little taller, but wouldn't necessarily scrape anything unless carrying a heavy load.

Personally I went with Shinko 712s 140/90-15 in the rear and had 1 bolt that I needed to swap for a button head bolt to avoid clearance issues. You should be good to go

I use the Pirelli MT66 140/90 on mine. No clearance issues...BUT...If I had the saddlebag brackets I'd swap them out for button head bolts.

My speedo is more accurate...according to the doppler speed signs I go by....but last week a cop came up behind me (fast), pulled up next to me and gave me the "I'm watching you" sign with his fingers. At the light he rolled down his window and said "I need YOU to slow down". I told him I was going what my speedo said but he said "IT'S WRONG". I didn't argue... Grin

+1 on the 140/90. Mine's a Dunlop. No clearance issues, but then again I barely compress the shocks... Cool

Oh, and I thought my speedo was slow (actual running faster than indicated) but I was gaging that against my husband's speedo. Had never been able to check it against anything more reliable. But I rode b!tch with him the other day and used the GPS on my phone and it seems his speedo is fast (running slower than indicated) so now I think mine is accurate!

The only reason why I stick with the 140/80 is that actually my speedo is pretty much dead on according to my GPS. I don't want it to show slower than i am with a 140/90.
This is actually kinda strange since most people report the speedo more accurate with a 140/90 compared to stock.
I don't know why in my case it's the opposite.
Also my buddy's C50 always shows 5mph more than my bike running side by side.

I think the incident with the cop was just some chest pounding. I DID take off from the light maybe a wee bit faster than I should have...

I was going to ask about the 140/90-15, but I see you started without me. I must first say I WAS WRONG about tire prices. It seems they have risen $35-50 each since last summer. Glad I got my Metzeler on the front last year. Found out today I don't want to pay up for a Metz rear. Going with a 66 Pirelli 140/90-15 tomorrow if they can fit me in. I don't have any issues ya'll have mentioned, plus Serowbot and others claim the speedometer is more closer nearly to the real actual speed.

I'm light (145) but have ridden 2up before with no problems (275 total wt). You may have to switch to buttonhead bolts for the fender but I never did. Exact measurement I don't have but maybe I'll check tonight and get back to you.
