my bike is getting inspected, so i can't verify exactly for you, but i've been running dunlop 404 140/90-15s for a few years now. no problems with me (200), my woman (105), and a crap ton of potholes (yeah pittsburgh!).

from memory, i do feel that the tire looks pretty wide. 6 inches doesn't seem out of the question.

Same here! (Cept I'm about a stone heavier) I've used Kenda Challenger 140/90 for the last 2 rear tires - i have saddlebags with homemade brackets - never had an issue, didn't change any bolt heads. Wife is about 120 or so (guess we're both a stone heavier)  Cheesy - she seldom rides, but when she has - had no clearance issues.

I keep my shocks dialed up to the firmest setting

140mm = 5.52 inches , i never actually measured the kenda, but it definitely "eyeballed" bigger when i first put it on despite the same nominal width.

Slap that puppy on and go for a ride!  Grin
