Cruiser to Bobber -- Paint is "done"
07/24/11 at 15:24:58

Got the paint on the tank, fender, etc this weekend. From about 5-10 ft it looks awesome, but it has a LOT of flaws up close.
My painting skills are zero and Kevin's were pretty rusty. He did a decent job overall but some flakes of rusty metal from a bar fell on the tank as we were moving inside to dry for the night and they stuck right in the clear coat. It may buff out but I decided to just roll with it for a while.
I like the two broad stripes idea though and I had two people stop me -- on the road -- and ask about the bike today. That was pretty cool, Like someone telling you your girl is hot Smiley

So, anybody got an old Savage for sale so I can start over?

Thanks,
Hey, here's a tip. Don't drain a full tank of gas from your bike when you have to p**s.

And another tip for painting, where a mask even if painting outside or you will look like this when you are done:

I once painted a van in a garage. I painted from 11 am to 5 pm without a mask. (didn't know any better). I went outside to clean out the gun and remembered I hadn't painted the doorjambs, so I went back in, opened the doors and proceeded to paint the doorjambs... and the seats, and the dash and the steering wheel and the windows, all of which had been already painted, except the windows of course.
I was fried. That's probably why I'm running out of useful brain cells now. Grin

Nice job, the stripes look great on that bike. I painted a '69 firebird in my parents garage back in the day. The fumes were overpowering and the house stunk for weeks. Great car, wicked good paint, but my Pop was ready to paint my butt bigtime.  Grin

That's awesome, the paint job on a friend of mine's '69 Camaro is what inspired the stripes. But I have to admit I always liked the front end of the Firebird just a little better......

Awesome, I like it a lot.

I plan on putting a stripe on mine eventually. Maybe this winter.

A bobber/cafe racer with the tool box on for once..

When I bought my used 2005 s40 they guy didn't even have the tools in the tool box, then when rummaging through the took pouch I noticed none of the tools even fit the screws/nuts on the bike.. I guess that's why he didn't carry the tools???
