(23 yrs working on cars) Personally, if I knew it was never coming apart again, I would cut the dam connector out and just hard wire it. Solder, shrink wrap, done.

I finally got the the point that I just do the damage on them & get them apart, especially on older Fords,, break one side off, release the other carefully.
