Neutral switch
07/12/11 at 08:23:15

Hi!

I just recieved a new neutral switch for my 97 Savage from cmsnl.
Part no. 37720-24B30. The switch is different from the defecte one i just removed. Original one has 3 electric connections, the new one has got just one. (blue). On the old one there is a red and a green wire, which seems to go to the CDI.

Part no. 37720-24B20 is ordered - anyone knows if this is the right one?

regards

Tom

As far as I know you should only have a single blue wire.  I have engines from '88 2 '02

I have a '91 too, and it has only got the blue wire. The cdi on the '91 has only one connection, the 97 has got 2 connections. The switch from the 97 has 3 contact points, the '91 only a single. Funny, i can't find a wiring diagram with the '97 cdi.....

To be clear, is this the switch under the RH side cover, or the kickstand switch?

Valp, I followed behind you and came up with the same puzzle. The csn folks show one wire and it should be one wire on all the ones I looked up. 37720-24B20 may work. Some companies will send a runner to actually check the part if it is in question. They don't want problems either.  Good luck.

Hi all

Due to impatience (i waited one month for the wrong sparepart) i soldered the wire on the defective switch - incredible what you are able to do when your wife is pushing (her bike, has been taken apart for nearly two months).

The neutral light came on, everything is ok - wife is happy! (except for the weather here in Denmark, which suddenly changed from warm and sunny to lots of rain, cold and windy).

So the test drive seems far away...

Thanks a lot for your interest, advices etc...

Denmark??? I thought you were in the US. We sometimes give different advice for our overseas friends, because they have a different supply system and, in most cases, higher prices. Glad to hear you did it the "Savage" way. "Any part can be the right part and any tool can be the right tool. My best to your wife. Boofer Smiley
