So I think I have it figured out. My idle adjust screw ( the one next to throttle body, not air mixture) was backed all the way out. I was having to use the choke out when starting, which I never did before, as it is NOT cold here. Ever.

So I adjusted it correctly and now it idles fine and doesn't hesitate or pop when decelerating.

Is this because when it was backed off, when I close the throttle, the body closes completely, causing a really slow idle when slowing in gear. Cause it felt as though the bike was wanting to die. I drove it today and it seems fine.

I always have to use half choke to crank and idle smoothly. Below 40 degrees it takes full choke to crank but idles smoothly. That has been my "normal" for about 7500 miles. I think some of the new riders sometimes think their bikes have to be like everyone elses. And I do understand those who want to tinker and some want more performance. As long as it runs and you enjoy it it's all good. Of course engine longevity and safety issues are important. We all need to be tuned in to those, but even then we use different fixes according to our ability and finances.  Wink

Ya but because of where I live, I NEVER have to use the choke. Then after laying it down I do have to use it just to stay lit, and it's running like crap. I am assuming (and hoping) that the idle was the reason.

Just want someone with actual knowledge to validate my hopes!! Grin

You need someone with eyeballs on it to give that kind of comfermation

but makes sense, with the idle screw turned all the way out, it weren't doing nothing.  yer cable was too tight, tipping it over and pulling it back up, straightened out the cable.
