header torque?
06/28/11 at 12:47:02

ok i got a new crush gasket for the header/head connection - and I have to re-torque the bolts once or twice a week - I notice shift pops increase and sure enought the bolts are 1/8 to 1/4 turn loose......anyone have a good fix (besides loctite) dont want to put anything on the threads that will preevent me from getting the header off when needed......just need them bolts to stay tight - did not have this problem with the old gasket.

I left the old gasket on, and added a new one on top...
Double gasketed... More crush room...

I always put a little engine assembly lube on the bolts, so locktite is out...
You might try a light scoring down the length of the bolt threads to give them a bit of bite... just a scratch with a sharp screwdriver can sometimes make a difference...
