Does anybody have a recording of how a worn cam chain/tensioner sounds?

Thank you all

Seems like I remember reading about more of a "feeling" in your left ankle than really a sound....  or am I thinking of something else?   Undecided

Clicking on your right ankle when you press against the side cover as I recall.
Seriously, if it's making a noticable sound I'd pull the cover asap before something blows...this is a known engine killer.

Generally the cam tensioner will be close to needing the verslavy mod at around 12-13,000 miles but it does vary. It really doesn't hurt to take a look. Personally I probably waited too long to do the mod. I only had about 2 clicks until the plunger shot out. I was at roughly 11,000 miles.

The sound varies...
can be a chain rubbing
but generally is a clack that you can feel by your right ankle, just press it against the case, or put your hand on top by the rear of the filter cover.
if it starts to screach, pull over and stop before it goes kaboom.
shut off engine and tow her home.
don't pass go
pay your $200

Hi all,
I have only about 4000 miles on an '02 I just bought. When can I start expecting to need the verslavy mod? What signs/sounds do I need to look for?
Many Thanks!

What should you do about this if you can't really do it yourself?

Theres like two "ticking" sounds, one lighter and one more "slamming", which one is it you mean? Or is it both?

Great bike btw!

Cheers Carl
