The valves seem quieter already . How long can I ride around before I have to do another oil and filter change,or will it be ok to wait till the end of the season ,about 800 mi for me? Or could I just drain the oil and leave the filter? Thanks

Seafoam changes the viscosity of the oil, so you don't want it in there too long.

Could have done the same thing with 6 ounces of Dexron-Mercon ATF and running it for 5-10 minutes.

Or half a cup of diesel for a few minutes.

But both of them would require a still hot fluid change. And you'd still need to adjust the noisy cam follower (valve rocker). All the additive does is pull gum, varnish and sludge out. And a ton of carbon if you were running rich.

I use ATF for that as well. Or two stroke oil. Both will neutralize some of the ethanol side affects, and cost a fraction of what SeaFoam costs. I used to use SeaFoam in my Vulcan, didn't make much difference versus the other two.

A lot of people use Marvel Mystery Oil to do the same thing.

The less spent on additives, the more spent on mods.

I wrote the company and got this answer.

The Sea Foam will not significantly change your oils viscosity and can be run for long term cleaning maintenance. Sea Foam is a pure petroleum blend and will not affect wet clutch operation because there are chemicals in Sea Foam. In fact Sea Foam is in all my crankcases in any vehicle or equipment I have.

I've known of the Marvels Mystery Oil since I was young,I never tried it because of the name.
