Bigger Gas Tank Available?
06/19/11 at 21:19:48
The gas tank on the Savage is too small for multi-day rides. Does anyone know if a larger tank is available?

I could see taking two or even three of those and mounting them up lengthwise to replace the stock tank.

Here's what I have discovered: My a$$ needs rest and refreshment about the time my stock tank needs fuel, based on experience of 500+ miles per day at times.

True, but then there are those (including myself) that make a lot of short hops and, wouldn't you know it, the
one
time you're really in a hurry, you need to get gas.

I think this would be a great "just in case" mod. For those of us that have pulled the air box, put in the small tank and most would likely mistake it for an oil bag anyway. I am strongly considering this one.

For those that removed their air box, you could put a small one in that empty space there.
But i don't know if that would be mounted too low to get any gas out of it.

It would probably be too low but a small electric pump could be used to pump it into the main tank

You're right of course, I thought that was implied.

Or you could just find a small stainless cylinder to to fit in the space air box was and have a small funnel that attaches so all you have to do is pull over, pour it in, and find the nearest fill up station.

All of the Chinese Honda knock-off scooters I've worked on use a ..............vacuum operated fuel pump. And so did the Hyusong 650 I rejetted for my friend. Since the Hyusong is a copy of a Suzuki, you could do it with 'stock' parts.
