Stator wires???
06/16/11 at 12:36:00

I hard-mounted all my wires into the airbox and I needed to remove the engine, so I figured Id just cut the stator wires and reconnect during installation.

However, 3 of the yellow wires appear to be identical and now I fear I really wont ever get them reconnected...?!

Im guessing maybe I can use a voltmeter to distinguish between them, or maybe it doesnt matter how they are all hooked up? grrrr

Whenever I mess with any type of wiring, simple labeling can work best......

Are the wires high gloss finish?   If not, buy a red, black, and green sharpie marker.
Mark each one correspondingly.

If they are high gloss, and sharpie wont dry on them after a few seconds, go buy 3 different shades of electrical tape, and do one complete wrap around, then cut in the center of your tape job, each end will be matched.
Best way I know of to label correctly.

Good luck and God bless,

Farmer

3 yellows from the ac generator go to 3 yellows in the regulator rectifer
doesnt matter which is which
3 phase= 3 coils in the generator w/one common point internally

I mean this is the best sense you can thnk of. A friend and I are always saying the "If you're gonna' be stupid, you better be tough". I sometimes change it: "If you're gonna' be stupid, you better be rich". Actually I feel bad for you, because I know what it's like to do that stuff myself.  Embarrassed

Pretty sure Thumper is right, 3 phase power, just being rectified...the voltages from one wire to the others should be the same, and I don't think there's anything that's using 3 phase power, so the rotation wouldn't matter....Just my 2 cents.
