before you said it took four tries to get it started and it stalled soon after.
with the cap off you said it filled right up.
I think its the cap vent.
No one showed how to do it, but the vent needs cleaning.
And that would affect both bikes at the same time.
Keep the cats off the tank.

When he was first messing around with it, it did take 4 times to get it to start. After letting it sit, he tried it and it started and the fuel went in the filter.

Well he's got my bike tore apart. He took apart the petcock and it wasn't clogged at all. The diaphragm seems to be working just fine. It doesn't appear that the cap vent had any kind of clog either. He's got the spark plug off and is checking it out. I don't know what else his plans are. So far it doesn't seem that there is any kind of clog or blockage anywhere.
Ok he just came in a and said that there was some gunk build up of the petcock but he cleaned it off .

Since both acted up after fillup, I say bad gas. Easy to check, too.
