Missing part -- throttle cable clip
05/31/11 at 09:48:37

When I got my badly used Savage, the throttle cable was sort of held to the carb with a piece of wire. There's supposed to be a clip. But the clip isn't shown on either the carb fische or the cable fische. Oops.

Does anyone know the part number, or a suitable replacement? Anyone have a spare one sitting around?

Or do they make you get the whole cable in order to get the clip? I hope not, because I'm going to have a custom shortened cable made to work with my Ryca project.

Actually it would be a "D" shapped clip open at one end.  The straight side goes on the forward side of the cable bracket in the groove.

Maybe you could fashon one if you could find a piece of spring steel wire small enough to fit into that groove.  Safety wire would be another alternative but wouldn't look as good.  Those little boogers are bound to get lost from time to time so maybe the service dept at a Suzuki dealer would help you out.  I'm sure Suzuki isn't the only one that uses these things.  I doubt a parts dept would be of any help since it's not on the parts brekdown.

There's usually sombody parting out a bike here so that might be another source.

I spent a half an hour on the floor looking for mine and finally found it 5 feet from where I dropped it.

If I had to, I was thinking of cutting a U-shaped piece out of metal, then bending up the ends to keep it in the slot.

The only time the clip get used is when the cable sheath gets pulled on, pulling the cable end out of the socket and over reving the engine.
So don't do that.   Huh  forgettaboutit.
