Replacement tires
05/20/11 at 14:36:30

I would like a recommendation for new tires on my 2001 savage. Does a 150-90-15 fit the rear? I mostly put around town with maybe 200 miles a year at cruising speed. Thanks

I had trouble with the 159-90.  It rubbed the bolts under the fender for my saddle bag braces when my wife and I rode 2 up.  I even set the shock up to the 5th position and had them rub.

I went back to the 150-80 and have no trouble with 2-up riding now.

I know that the 150-90 are more plentiful and probably cheaper, but there is the 'rub'  Grin

You're better off with a 130/90 or 130/80 handling wise. 150s look better.

Suzuki really messed up by mounting 15" rear hoops instead of 16s.

I have a 150/90 Pirelli, do not ride two-up, and nothing rubs.

I put 26,000 miles on 2 sets of Metzlers since I bought my C50. Bar none, the BEST tires I have EVER ridden on... Bar none!

My bike came with a 130/90 rear tire when I bought it (used.)  Is it common practice to install the 130/90 rather than the 140/90 called for?

In what way is handling improved?

Which one pulls better: The Savage or the C50?

140/90 can be a pain in the butt to find. 130/90 is common to a couple Hondas, can usually find them.

10mm narrower tire, miniscule reduction in rolling resistance, but a much rounder profile. It leans more readily.
