Just watched a movie about Mr Pearpoint (True story) he was the british hangman for 22 years from the 40s to mid 60s ,he moonlighted as a grocery delivery guy. no one in the small town he lived in,new what he did until Montgomery asked him to be chief hangman at the Neuremburg trials. A very good movie ,.FYI in his career he hanged
608 people, he was also famous for hanging the last female to be exicuted in England,Ruth Ellis ,I'm pretty sure that was her name.
They didn't mess around in those days, after the judge pronounced your sentance you had 10 days to get your last bits of business
taken care of, No apeals,no 15/20 years on death row.
No more death sentances in britain anymore.
