Do new handlebars need to be drilled for controls? (Read 123 times)

Posts: 12	Do new handlebars need to be drilled for controls? 05/02/11 at 18:02:00 I want to get some Biltwell Keystones for my bike, but have heard that there are pre-drilled holes for the controls to rest in. Obviously I haven't yet taken off the hand controls to check. That will be tomorrow. Any suggestions?

I just stuck on a set of HD sportster bars and will be filing off the nub on the indicator assembly tonight. I installed and rode with it as it was but the indicators are turned too high up and I honk my horn more than I indicate now. I don't consider that safe ... or funny.

I wouldn't try drilling unless you're super skilled and have a drill press. For me, it's the grinder attachment and my dremmel!

Re: Do new handlebars need to be drilled for contr Reply #5 - 05/03/11 at 10:35:47 Drilling pipe means having good center punch & a sharp little bit to get things started, Drill press helps, but not essential, A piece of angle iron & some vise grips is pretty handy, or a friend.. Grinding a nub seems so much easier..

I just used my dremel with a sanding drum and sanded down the nub. Took less than a minute.
