Is there a spark plug replacement schedule?
04/18/11 at 19:35:03

I've got 13,000 on the original spark plug on my 2007.  Do they need regular replacement or do I drive with the same one until I have some kind of problem?

Schedule? Every third Tuesday after the first full moon after the autumnal equinox, between the hours of 9:30 AM and 8:45 PM, except in leap years or years ending in 3 or 7, in which case it's the second Wednesday, between 2:15 AM and 8:05 AM. And don't forget to rub a monkey's butt three times in a counterclockwise circle while humming an F#. And make sure the bike is aligned with true north.

Actually, in my opinion, you SHOULD replace the brake fluid in your car. So by your logic... yeah, replace it in your bike too!

I spent many hours resurrecting the brakes on a mans old truck. His 87 Dodge had the original brake fluid in it. It was Nasty, the rear brake cylinders were so rusted up that I couldnt even crush the pistons in without a Big Vise*** (Edit below). The fluid was brown & I used over a quart to get it back to a reasonable color. Bills "It dont need maintenance" is comforting if you dont want to do the work, but if you want to keep somethng, you gotta maintain it.
If the car has antilock brakes, you cant just go opening bleeders & pokin on the brake pedal. Get the manual & follow it or pay someone to cycle the brake fluid.

Edit.. They were so pitted there was simply no chance they would hone out. Brake fluid atracts water & will create some rusted up crap if its not replaced once in a while.

You are incorrect. I have a 1981 Kawasaki KZ440 running just fine with 16k miles on it. However, following what the suzuki engineers say to do is to replace it every two years. Given that brake fluid is really cheap and easy to replace (same as spark plugs), I'll take the "wive's tale" approach and have peace of mind that my motorcycle will stop correctly.

Bill, I'm beginning to think you just like trolling on this site just to piss people off with your wild, baseless claims of unnecessary maintenance. Whatever magical rituals you do to your bike, keep them to yourself. The rest of us will stick to proven good maintenance.
