I don't think the two interchange all that well .......

I thought the critical thing about brake fluid is that it's hydrophobic (won't absorb water), which would rust the brake system.

Reply #20 - 04/20/11 at 09:06:51 I actually did substitute some power steering fluid (I think, maybe trctor hydraulic fluid) for brake fluid in a 4 wheeler that did not work. It swelled up the seals and stopped well right up until it went up in flames. And no, the brakes did not start the fire.
