The original Yuasa on my 2001 is a YB14L-A2. I replaced it with another Yuasa, because I got great service from it. $58.95 plus tax from a cycle shop. Many on here use Big Cranks and others. I've been kidding that Boule'tard uses a hearing aid battery. I believe he has a very small battery. You'll soon have plenty of recommendations. This group is not shy.  Smiley

Try this one: http://www.bigcrank.com/product/ETX-15L.html

I have one on my bike, and my wife has one on her Savage. Fast shipping and great price; AGM to boot. If you add it to your cart, but then try to back out of the site, they usually offer a discount if you are a 1st time customer. Just a little trick others have used to save a few dollars.

For her 99 Savage I didn't have to do a single thing. Simply swapped out the batteries. Hope this helps.

You should use the ETX15L batteries.  They're AGM type batteries, which means they're solid state batteries; no refilling the electrolyte with distilled water every once in awhile.

That said, I *am* selling my brand new Big Crank ETX15L battery Cheesy.  http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1300586269

The terminals are larger than stock.
Stock leads have tabs that prevent it from turning on the terminal.
You have to flatten them or cut them off.
And the rubber boot doesn't sit all the way down on it, which is ok.

Batteries Plus has an old fashioned wet cell for the Savage for $39.00, my last one lasted five years. Regards, Jim

p.s. They want the old one for a core.

I have an 05 and a Big Crank and the only mod i had to do was to bend half of the U shape on the battery lead so it would screw down tight, Big Crank provides some brass spacers that are ment to go between the lead and the battery but they werent thick enough and there isnt much room to work with when the battery is in the bike.
