Handlebar size debate
04/12/11 at 10:10:10

I'm about to become the subjet of my own pet peeve. For whatever it is worth I searched but have been thrown for a loop.

I want to put on sportster style handlebars on a 2001 Savage. I contacted a gentleman who has done a great deal of modding to his and he mentioned just ensuring I bought 7/8" bars. All this time I was looking for 1" bars and thought it was silly that they were 1" ... but still. Are the bars 7/8" or 1"?

While I am at it, thanks for all the useful information. It would seem so many questions and answers are here that after a month of owning my Savage I have not had to post. Shocked  I appreciate this site and the invaluable knowledge of the members. Pardon the corny-nature of that remark.

As far as I know all cruizers are 1", of course there are exceptions.
And all squid bikes are 7/8", ditto on the waiver.

But HD and the savage are 1".

Thank you so much. So the s40, the 2005 and 2006 Boulevard are also 1", right?

This is a pic of my 01 with 1" HD Sportster bars on it.  I like the look and feel of them.

It's not a "debate." There's the actual size (1") and the uninformed opinion of some bozo gentleman.
