Nope, lean, blue tells me you are lean. popping? backfiring? exhaust leak and lean. for the exhaust leaks, use a candle (lit) the flame with tell you where the leak is.

You start right here, ask questions, read up, then do the work. The link above is a good one. But you can skip some of the work by dropping the bowl on the carb rather than take the carb off. Can be just as hard though cause the battery box can be pretty tight to the carb. But if you can drop the bowl, loosen the clamps to the rubber ducks and twist the carb to one side a little, so it's easier to see what you're doing.
