Thanks for the input guys, got it out and the new one in. But when adjusting the screw I found the I was able to turn it all the way in and was still running rich. So I put the stock idle jet back in and it ran good for a while but now its running like crap. Think my 155 main jet is too big? I was thinking of going down to a 152/153 or something.

Anytime you have inconsistent running, it wouldn't be any solid state component like a main jet causing it. If the carb is for sure clean, then look for any part of the carb that will move, like an idle screw, or the metering rod slide, or the float valve assy.

Had the carb apart yesterday and its clean as a whistle. It runs great when I'm cruising the problem arises when I close the throttle like coming to a stop. It almost dies so I have to keep it reved up a bit so it won't die.

Idle screw did nothing. This is really beyond me. Lancer any ideas man? I just turned the air idle mixture screw all the way in and she's still spitting black smoke at me. The only thing I can think of is smaller jet?
