Savage Carb on a Harley Ironhead?

Does anyone know if this will work? I have a 79 Harley Ironhead. The carb blows ass and I was wondering if the carb from my 01 savage will work on the harley... bolts right on and the jets are about the same. Its a 1000cc engine. Just looking for ideas

I would think it needed bigger jets, but you said they're about the same.I'd bolt it on and try it.Worst can happen, won't run.

the jets are the same size now.... it runs for a few seconds... then pops on me and dies. I haven't had the bike running for year so maybe its just knocking some dust out of it. but it will only start with the choke fully pulled! Its getting fuel, but not sure how much.  The float bowl is bigger on the the CV carb then the original harley carb, so it should be hurting for fuel. I adjust the idle as well so it wouldn't starve for fuel startinng up. I plugged the vacume line.... well it was already plugged when I had it on my Savage... should I unplug it?

When I was a kid my oldest brother had a Harley duo-glide about a 62 vintage and he sandcast a manifold and put a chevy corvair carb on that to soup up the engine a bit and it was kick starting and he was only about 5'6" and he kicked and kicked and pfoom - whomp.  I came out of the house and found he had been launched off the bike into the side of the house almost upside down.  The stock carb soon went back on.

Im 6'5" and 240.... that won't be a problem for me! Although if I don't put some ass into it... mid stroke on the kick it will throw the kicker back up... HURTS LIKE HELL ON THE KNEES!
