If you are still hand sewing...put a small bead of some sort of sealant in your seems, might be a little messy but it would keep water out and you could trim it after it dries.

I might try some kind of sealant. good thing I saved the original. probably slap that back on for now, just so I can ride til I figure something out.

Did you remember the plastic layer between foam and vinyl? That's how the factory seat was on mine (and the foam still soaked up water like a sponge and became a mushroom farm)...

yea. foam is fine. its the material i used. it had diamond stitching already sewn into it. so the thin piece of foam on the inside was soaked. and then my seam around the edges. oh well, it was a fun experiment. i've already got stock foam and cover stapled back on pan. pretty fast/easy job.

Keep a close watch on the factory cover, the vinyl is sub-standard. Low UV resistance, low heat/cold tolerance. They are better than they used to be, but there is room for improvement.
